Credi-Clean makes use of a smart, non-mercury based LED lighting system which is concentrated only in the keypad area. Surfaces or objects outside of the keypad area are not exposed to the light. Prolonged exposure to powerful mercury UV radiation may cause eyes to become irritated and the skin may be hurt, as would happen by being exposed to the sun for a period of time without sunscreen. As with any cleaning product, precautions need to be taken to only make contact with the device being cleaned once the light has been switched off, in the same manner, that when handling a cleaning agent, direct contact with skin and eyes should be avoided.
By using the anchored installation method, much smaller light sources can be used, this in turn means less radiation and less risk; focusing the lights on the exact area where disinfecting is required, ensures that the light can be controlled and does not “spill” onto any other areas. Motion sensors switch off the UV-C light each time it detects motion close to the keypad. Retail staff and cashiers will require training via the product manual to ensure the device is off before commencing a transaction and the device is fitted with a further manual safety switch. If no motion is detected, the light will automatically power down after approximately 3 minutes and will not power on until it has detected a valid movement trigger.
Research shows a busy cashier could transact with around 300- 500 clients per shift, taking into account that the COVID-19 virus has been reported to survive on certain surfaces for up to 72 hours, it is vitally important that these high contact surfaces are continually cleaned. By automating the cleaning system, the risk is decreased.
No, UVC is not new technology and has been used in food processing, water filtration, and hospitals for decades. UVC light has the ability to destroy the genetic material inside viruses and other microbes. These installations will help us continually prevent contact transmission of viruses and bacteria via credit card terminals.
99 % of all produced and current credit card terminals will fit into the standard housing. For peculiar designs, we will happily do a modification
